Dr. Cheryl Berry has been a licensed chiropractor for eleven years.

Dr. Berry brings 31 years of experience in studying the human form. She experienced chiropractic following the cesarean birth of her daughter 19 years ago.  Having been an avid runner and fitness advocate, she was unable to resume her full physical activities due to persistent low back spasms.  Chiropractic not only gave back her quality of life, it also changed Dr. Berry's view of how health and disease are created, as well as her commitment to raising her family by honoring the natural healing capacity of the body.

Dr. Berry's background and studies include not only a doctorate in chiropractic, but also a master's degree in exercise physiology, and a bachelor's degree in psychology.  Her experience has been diverse working with apparently healthy people to those with specfic health concerns such as cardiac and pulmonary rehab, diabetes and high choloesterol.  She developed the Fitness Testing Program at the Naval Station in San Diego, performed treadmill testing and taught lectures for the Executive Health Program at Scripps in La Jolla, and taught numerous group exericse programs, as well as working as a student in the Adult Fitness Program at San Diego State University.

Dr. Berry has always strived for health and wellness.  Therefore, it should come as no surprise that her chiropractic practice is based on a vitalistic wellness model.

Cafe of Life has been in Kent for 10 years.  Dr. Berry uses a "gentle whole person approach" when taking care of her patients of all ages.  By combining the very best hands-on-technique, state of the art assessments, and a compassionate listening heart, Dr. Berry always strives for excellence, and knowing it is "progress and improvement...not perfection" that supports a life long journey towards health and wellness.

Even as a young girl, "Dr. Cheryl" as known by her clients, was on a quest for excellence in everything she undertook to achieve.  With great determination and perseverance, she'd bounce around the house with her minature baton interweaving it between her fingers again and again, taking it outside on the grass to try twirling it into the air.  Day in...day out...year in...year out...advancing to a standard-sized baton, it was her joy to practice.  Beautiful mastery resulted, which she shared during her junior and high school years as a majorette for the band.

From the time she decided to become a chiropractor to the present moment, Dr. Cheryl has continued her personal quest for excellence, so she could share a gift of knowledge and healing to benefit the lives of others.

LX_2006_11_22_000_0008_1.jpgOnce she decided that chiropractic was her calling, she researched and sought the school that she felt would be the best match for her professionally and philosophically, even though it meant a move from the West coast to the East.  With a lesson under her belt in how to fix a flat tire from her brother, she packed up her 1990 Subaru Legacy with her four-year-old daughter and drove to Marietta, Georgia.  It was a five day trip of sun, snow, rain, hail, tornado warnings, and and windshield of yellow pollen greeting them upon their arrival.

Four years later, it was a proud moment for the four generations of Berry women:  Mamma Rosa May, Sister Rosa Lee, and Daughter Kendra, to witness Dr. Cheryl's graduation with Summa Cum Laude honors.  More than the accomplishment itself, however, was how Dr. Cheryl did it.  With tremendous persevereance, she worked...she studied...she attended classes...she took the practicums...she completed clinic...and she passed all her board exams, all the while loving her young daughter and being an amazing example of strength and determination.  Nothing less than what she had learned from her own parents, who raised six successful children and asking nothing more than to simply do your best.

From that ceremony forward, day in...day out...year in...and year out, having advanced to her own chiropractic practice ten years later, Dr. Cheryl continues to quest for that excellence in everything she undertakes.
